What earns a commission

Every Amazon link on this site carries the tracking id smartchoiceguide-20. If you buy after following one, Amazon pays us a percentage of the sale; the price you pay is the same either way. Product photographs supplied by Amazon are themselves links to the listing, so they are paid links too, and each is labelled Photo: Amazon.
Links to a manufacturer’s own product page, manual or support article are not paid. They are there because they are the source for a specification on this site. Editorial photographs credit their photographer and link to the source and licence; nothing is earned from those either.
What a commission does not change
The lens checker, the kit builder, the filter tool and the weight calculator read mount, coverage, thread size and published weight. A commission cannot change whether a lens mounts on a body, so it changes none of them. A product with no listing we can earn from stays in the catalogue and in every result, and the checker still refuses to answer where the manufacturer has not documented a feature.
No hardware price is displayed anywhere on this site, and none of these tools ranks image quality, handling or autofocus performance.
