How these picks are made
  • Everyday and travel: a zoom from about 28 mm to at least 70 mm equivalent, lightest first.
  • People and portraits: the brightest prime framing like 70–135 mm that weighs under 300 g.
  • Wide scenes and rooms: the widest zoom under 600 g, lightest on a tie.
  • Distant subjects: reach of at least 300 mm equivalent under 1.5 kg, longest reach per gram.
  • Close-up and macro: life-size (1x) or more, lightest first; otherwise the highest magnification.
  • Low light: f/1.4 or brighter framing like 35–60 mm, lightest first.

Before you buy

  • 10 of these 67 lenses weigh more than the X-H2 itself (660 g with battery and card). With those, you carry the camera by the lens.
  • 3 of the 67 are made for full-frame cameras. They fit and work; they are usually larger and heavier than an APS-C lens with the same view.

Memory card and battery for the X-H2

What to buy with it, and what to do in the first hour.

Memory card

Two card slots, CFexpress Type B + SD with the UHS-II bus. Any SDXC UHS-II card works for photos; a UHS-II card clears long bursts faster, and a UHS-I card still works at UHS-I speed. For 4K video, use a card rated V30 or faster.

Battery

NP-W235: about 540 shots using the screen per charge by the CIPA test. It charges inside the camera over USB-C (switched off), so a spare battery and a power bank cover a long day.

The first hour

  1. Charge the NP-W235 fully before the first outing (in the camera, over USB-C, or in a charger).
  2. Insert the card, then format it in the camera: Menu, then the card or set-up tab, then Format. Copy anything on it first; formatting erases it.
  3. Set the language, date and time; the date goes into every photo's file.
  4. Fit the lens: line up the mount marks, turn until it clicks. Release by pressing the lens button.
  5. Take a test shot and play it back before you set off.

X-H2 lens questions

Can I use full-frame lenses on the X-H2?

Yes. 3 of the 68 lenses here are made for full-frame Fujifilm X cameras and mount directly on the X-H2. On this APS-C sensor they frame 1.5 times tighter than their focal length: a 50 mm lens frames like 75 mm.

Can I adapt other lenses to the X-H2?

Fujifilm makes no autofocus adapter for X mount. Manual-focus adapters for older lenses are made by others. What manual adapters give up

Which memory card does the X-H2 take?

Two slots: CFexpress Type B + SD, UHS-II. For 4K video use a card rated V30 or faster.

Does the X-H2 charge over USB?

Yes. The NP-W235 charges inside the camera over USB-C while the camera is off.

Does the X-H2 have in-body image stabilisation?

Yes, sensor-shift stabilisation that works with every lens, including unstabilised primes.
