How long a charge lasts
The CIPA figure comes from one standard test, the same for every maker: photos at set intervals with the screen or viewfinder on. Video, long playback, Wi-Fi and cold weather give fewer shots; two batteries give about twice the figure.
Charging
Fujifilm's manual names the USB power adapters that charge the battery inside the camera; a separate charger lets you charge a spare while you shoot.

The first hour
- Charge the NP-W126S fully before the first outing (in the camera over USB-C, or in a charger).
- Insert the card, then format it in the camera: Menu, then the card or set-up tab, then Format. Copy anything on it first; formatting erases it.
- Set the language, date and time; the date goes into every photo's file.
- Take a test shot and play it back before you set off.
