To use 95 mm-thread lenses with larger filters you already own, a step-up ring screws into the lens and takes the larger filter: 95–105 mm, 95–112 mm. 95–105 mm ring 95–112 mm ring

Filters smaller than 95 mm (77 mm, 82 mm, 86 mm) need a step-down ring, which darkens the corners on most lenses; we do not suggest it. Smaller-thread lenses can use 95 mm filters through a step-up ring: 77 mm lenses, 82 mm lenses, 86 mm lenses.
